I was born in Philadelphia but spent the majority of my childhood and adult life in Atlanta. I married young and gave birth to seven beautiful children. I think, like a lot of women, I lost myself under the labels of wife and mother. But I found myself when I found writing. The moment I sat down with a pen and a spiral notebook, (because we were too poor to own a computer,) I knew I'd found my passion. When I'm writing I'm happy. When I'm writing I'm fulfilled.
That first little love story I began in that notebook, turned into many notebooks. I had no idea that when I finished the story I'd have an epic. Those notebooks translated into 1500 typed pages! At the time I knew nothing about the publishing industry, so when I approached a publisher with my giant manuscript I was extremely indignant when they laughed at me. Heck, I was thinking people would be getting a real deal... so much book for their money! :)

It's amazing to me that this violence against women still exists in this day and age. But I can attest it still exists. Since I've been speaking out against violence against women I've received hate male from men. I admit, their words were harsh and frightening. If they had that affect on me, imagine how they affect the women in their lives. When will men learn that real men don't hurt women. We focus so much on what we should teach our children, when will we realize how important it is to teach little boys to respect, care for and protect the females in their lives? And yeah, women, argue all you want, we are vulnerable and at the physical mercy of men at all times. I'm a martial artist, I can bench 200 lbs. But the strongest women are still not as strong as the weakest of men. I know you don't want to believe that but it's true. Remember the young Georgia girl who was murdered on a hiking trail? She was in top physical shape and a martial artists. Her murderer, Gary Hilton, was 61 years old. The violence against women must end.
